Project Management - A Reality Check

So much has been said and written about why projects fail that I felt it was necessary to create my own blog that highlights the reasons I hear from the field. After all, on any given day I correspond with numerous project teams seeking something different, better and forward looking than settling for the current status quo.

First, let me introduce myself. I am the Director of Community at Clarizen, an on-demand (online, hosted, web-based, etc.) project management company founded to introduce a better way for managing projects. Users sign up for Clarizen as they are seeking a solution that addresses their key challenges, which typically are not feature related, risk related or technical related. For the most part, they are people related.

Projects are about teams, not only project managers. Projects are about execution, not only planning. Projects are about professionals juggling various tasks on a daily basis with different teams without being PMI certified or formally trained Project Managers.
These three combined are the guiding principles of Clarizen, its foundation and vision.

Our pure Web 2.0 and SaaS platform is simply the vehicle we use to carry our vision.

'Horror stories' from the field, along with case studies and user-driven project experiences to be included in my future posts. Stay tuned!

By the way, I am NOT a certified Project Manager, I just have endless projects with endless team...
